A highlight of the trip was without a doubt our visit to Rosenborg Slot, a Danish renaissance castle built in the 17th century by Christian IV and the former royal residence (and yes, in case you didn't know, Denmark is still a constitutional monarchy and therefore has a royal family).
Perfume is a BBC Four three-part documentary from 2011 which aims to investigate the behind-the-scenes of the multi-billion-dollar business that is the fragrance industry. In the first episode, titled "Something old, something new", British director Ian Denyer takes a look at two major but very different brands and compares their perfume-making process: French house Guerlain and American multinational Tommy Hilfiger of the Estée Lauder company. A juxtaposition of old and new, traditional and modern, classic and preppy.
Last Friday British megabrand Burberry announced that it would abandon the traditional biannual and seasonal approach to catwalk shows, with a move that effectively shook up the whole of the fashion world. "The fashion calendar's been around as long as Burberry's iconic black-tan-and-red check, and it's ripe for a shake up," wrote Andrea Feldsted for Bloomerg Gadfly.
