Research | Fur: Game of Thrones

The Game of Thrones craze has affected everyone - even the fashion industry. In the series, fur plays a big role in the characters' styling, and it is especially become a signifier of one of the main families in the story, House Stark, the sovereigns (or legitimate sovereigns) of the North. It is also worn extensively by the members of the Night's Watch, the military order which guards the wall at the far North of the land, as well as the by the Free Folk, or wildlings, who inhabit the frozen lands beyond the wall. While it is clearly used as a way of protecting oneself from the inhospitable weather conditions, it has also acquired symbolic meanings of royalty and high rank.

Here are some images from the show as well as some catwalk looks which would appear have taken some inspiration from these Northern characters.
